Become knowledgeable about all of the various kinds of dog clippers prior to deciding on what type of clipper to purchase. The most effective clippers are considered to be Andis and Oster A5. They both feature a detachable blade which provides you with the opportunity to make a choice on the proper blade according to the cut that you are interested in.
The pet owner is offered many choices when it comes to clippers. The professional dog clippers are offered in my styles. The rechargeable dog clippers vary in prices, but get the job done in an accurate and timely manner. The rechargeable clippers are great for all day heavy duty use. The two speed clippers are very powerful and run fast. These durable clippers are excellent for trimming down that thick matted coat. Many dog grooming books will show you the best way to get rid of mats.
The electric clippers that are produced for trimming the dog’s hair can be purchased in a rechargeable style or plug in style. The professional dog clippers are quiet and easy to use, because of the chance that the dog may become agitated from the noise. The blades are designed to trim the dogs coat evenly so that there is no danger of hurting the dog and there is no problem grooming the dog.
Other great clippers are Pedipaws and Peticure. When seeking out the best clippers for your pet you will need to decide what type that you prefer. The traditional nail clippers are used to clip nails only. Other styles of clippers are used for trimming.
With regards to dog clippers you will discover that they are available in many different styles and prices. When you are ready to clip your dog you will absolutely have to be well prepared. Research your dogs breed standard. You can have a professional explain to you the right way to trim your dog’s coat. Put money into a DVD that will guide you in the proper way to clip your dog. You will need to invest in a model of clippers which includes accessories within the kit. It should include a pair of scissors and several guides. If you are looking to learn more about do it yourself dog grooming check out our reviews of dog grooming books.
When deciding on the best clippers for your pet the professional clippers are the best to use. The reason being is that they are much safer to work with. There will not be any worries about harming your pet. Consider purchasing the maintenance free dog clippers. With these clippers you will not have to worry about them breaking down which in turn you can use them continuously.
Whether you choose he single speed, the two speeds or cordless dog clipper make certain that it is the one which both you and your pet feel comfortable with. You want to cut your dogs hair safely by utilizing the correct dog clippers. The proper clippers for your dog are the key to cutting the dogs coat safely. When searching for grooming clippers make sure you choose the right one for your pet’s coat. Probably the most crucial rules would be to invest in the most effective clippers.

Maintaining and retaining a beautiful and healthy coat on your dog might possibly be very tricky based on the kind of dog which you have. You will have to know which dog shampoo and dog conditioner to use. You simply must shampoo your dogs coat and you have to determine which type of product that you will be in need of. When seeking that perfect shampoo for your precious pet you must take into account your pet and your family at the same time.

You will need to make use of dog conditioners as well as hair shampoos for dogs that includes any conditioning constituent with regard to long-haired canines. Dog breeds together with lengthy coats have a tendency to encounter tangling as well as matting particularly when their coats aren’t groomed every day. Despite the fact that the dog conditioning product could be essential, there’s absolutely no replacement for brushing the dogs coat on a regular basis. A little bit of do it yourself dog grooming never hurts!

It’s time for you to decide on the shampoo for your dog and you do not know what direction to go. There may be a household member that has allergies. If there is a family who is allergic to your dog you might need to decide on the shampoo which contains allergic reaction relief. Allergic reaction relief dog shampoos are created to get rid of pet pollen from your dog. This is for the purpose in order to eradicate allergy symptoms to the dog.

You will find shampoos which contain deodorant especially for your canine. Some of these shampoos are not for each and every pet; however it might be for some. There are numerous shampoos that not merely deodorize, but in addition contain a moisturizer and detangle at the same time. Such products are manufactured by a company which goes by the name of Stink Direct.

Your pet may have sensitive skin which requires a medicated shampoo. Most of these shampoos contain a mixture of soothing ingredients. Some of the ingredients that are in these shampoos are coal tar, aloe, tea tree oil, Peppermint oil and eucalyptus. Essentially the most frequent skin problems that dogs face are allergic reactions, dry skin, contact rashes and rashes as a result of infestation of pest such as fleas.

The waterless shampoo is a product for your pet that can be obtained in liquid and powder spray. This kind of shampoo is excellent for that busy person who does not have enough time to shampoo their pet. The animal lover can use the waterless shampoo in between grooming dates.

Whitening and color enhancement dog shampoo is perfect for certain kinds of breed of dogs. Not only does this product clean your pet’s coat, but it also applies a color enhancing effect. This dog shampoo comes in a number of sizings and needs to be combined with water.

When using the proper shampoo you’ll need the right grooming supplies or dog grooming equipment. Make it a point to always keep a grooming kit available in your home. Together with your dog bathing shampoo you may want to keep your dog grooming supplies at hand as well. Whichever product you decide to choose ensure that it is the best shampoo for your pet. Organic and natural shampoos may be the best dog shampoo for any pet.

If you’re looking for good dog grooming books the search can be a little difficult. We know because we have purchased so many of them both online and offline. That is why we set up a review of the top three book over at our dog grooming books page. Here is some more information about Pet Grooming Course, one of the books we loved.

It’s an on-line pet grooming course manual that is 170 pages long. One of the advantages of being able to view the book on-line is, along with the course there are two videos, one which is ninety-minute long, and a second which is sixty minutes long. These include step-by-step how you groom a dog. In order that two videos of that size would come with a normal book, they’d have to include a DVD.

This book, not only, teaches you how to groom dogs, but also shows you how you would set up your own business. Because pet ownership is rising, the need for professional dog groomers is also going up. They’re expecting the need for pet groomers to increase 22% between today and the year 2012.

It’s not hard to learn how to groom a dog; learning how to keep the government from auditing you is the hard part. You need to know the right things to do in order to turn dog grooming into a business.

You’ll need to know about safety concerns. You can’t have the dogs getting injured when you’re working on them. Both the dogs and the dog owners have to like you in order for them to keep bringing their dog back to you. This book gives good suggestions in that area. They only need to be happy enough to bring their dog back again, and again. This course shows you how to do that.

It shows you how to cure dogs of “Clipper-phobia”, it’ll show why it’s not as easy as you’d think to brush a dog. What happens when the dog has burrs or matted, corded, curly coats?

This is the way you can learn all the tricks of the trade. When thinking about what would be the best good dog grooming books, the “Pet Grooming Course” is one of the three on our list. Here is a direct link to their page to get some further information.

( I’m just copying some of this information off their website. They’re an excellent source, even though it sounds a bit hyped-up. It’s rather unfortunate, sometimes, that these sites use hype even if they have a good product. Just thought I’d mention that so you would know. )

In just 170 pages, this is a whole course on how to groom dogs for a living. You get to not have any boss, you get to have fun all day with dogs, you get to be able to, finally, get a handle on your own finances. Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to go to that boring job every day? I’d love to groom dogs all the time. That would be a fun way to live, particularly if you just adore dogs. You get to love them and pat them all day; that would be your job. So, if you’re looking for good dog grooming books that will teach you how to start up a dog grooming business, this would be a good choice.

Bathing a dog does not have be a chore or an annoying task. This can be a good chance to bond with your dog and get to know him a little better. That sounds a little funny but most dogs love human interaction. This is another chance for him to get closer with you. It is also very important to keep your dog clean. He will be happier and a lot healthier after his dog wash.
It is important to use this time to inspect your dog for any possible health problems. Make sure no fleas have taken up residence on him. As you use your fingers to work in the dog shampoo feel for any ticks that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.
There are a few things you can do when bathing a do to make sure that the experience goes smoothly for both you and your pet. Have you ever thought about how a dog groomer deals with a difficult pet when trying to do their job? There are plenty tips and tricks out there and I am going to let you in a on a few. The best step by step guide we have found for Dog Grooming is Dog Grooming Secrets. Their instructions are unparalleled and will have you working like a pro in no time. We have tried to check out all the different dog grooming books out there in an effort to see which ones are really good and which ones are horrible. We set up a side by side comparison on our dog grooming books page so you can see which one is good for you.
Make the dog wash a happy event.

If you and not excited about the event then your dog will pick up on that and learn to dread his bath as well. Treats can be used to let him know he is not getting in trouble and to reinforce positive behavior.
Bring a loved dog toy with you.

If you dog begins to associate dog bathing with a good thing like his favorite toy then he will be more willing to get washed.
Stay in control.

The dog will always try to establish control over a situation. This is why they usually destroy dog toys. You have to let him know that you are in control of the situation. Establish your position as the alpha dog of the pack. You might need to you stern commands if he is being unruly.
Monitor the temperature of the water you are using.

We do not like cold showers and we do not enjoy getting burned by water that is too hot. Make sure the water is warm enough to be comfortable but not hot enough to burn the dog.
Use the right tools.

Make sure you have the right dog grooming equipment on hand for the job. A quality shampoo is necessary as well as the right brushes and combs. This is especially important if your dog has a longer coat.
Brush a dog BEFORE bathing a dog.

This will help get out any knots or mats that have developed in the dogs fur. This step will also make it a lot easier to brush the dog after his bath.
Of course depending on the breed and size of your dog you may need to make a few changes. If you have a large dog it might be better to wash him outside, if possible. If not use the bath tub with the shower curtain closed. This will help keep all the dog washing activities inside the shower.
Make sure you reward him with a new toy or a treat after bathing a dog. This will help establish a good feeling about future dog washing. Make sure you have fun with the whole process. You best friend needs to keep him clean!

After a major conference between myself and Teddy (the official mascot of this site) we have decided to try and do our part to help all the dogs and cats out there that do not have homes and are in shelters.

As you can see there are a few ads on this site to various products. We promote the Dog Grooming Secrets home dog grooming guide, a dog training guide and a handful of Amazon products. Teddy and I are going to pledge to our pet loving visitors that we will donate 10% of any money we might make from this site to the ASPCA.

The ASPCA does some amazing work for the animals.

Founded in 1866, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) was the first humane organization established in the Americas, and today has more than one million supporters throughout North America. A 501 [c] [3] not-for-profit corporation, the ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. The ASPCA provides local and national leadership in animal-assisted therapy, animal behavior, animal poison control, anti-cruelty, humane education, legislative services, and shelter outreach. The New York City headquarters houses a full-service, accredited animal hospital, adoption center, and mobile clinic outreach program. The Humane Law Enforcement department enforces New York’s animal cruelty laws and is featured on the reality television series “Animal Precinct” on Animal Planet. For more information, please visit www.aspca.org.

• In 2006, the ASPCA’s Pet Adoption Center found homes for 2,253 dogs and cats.
• In 2006, the ASPCA’s Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital treated 24,120 animals.
• The ASPCA Counseling Services department offers bereavement counseling to people whose pets have died.
• ASPCA attorneys and staff work with legislators to sponsor and support animal welfare legislation and initiatives that provide greater protection for animals under the law.

So if any of these products appeal to you then we hope you will consider getting them from our site. We promise to update this section of the site each month with our donation stats.

Convenience is what we look for in things that we have to do. If we have things that make life convenient, it will make chores easier and faster to do. Good dog grooming equipment is what we need in grooming mans’ best friend. For home use, we need them to reduce the mess that goes with grooming. Dogs need to be stationary especially while bathing and giving them a trim. So what is the equipment needed for grooming dogs? A dog needs to be bathed first. So a Grooming Tub will greatly help. The tub should have non-slip flooring. It should also have drain ports to dispense off used water. More importantly, it should be well elevated from the floor. Along with the tub, a good Spray with Complete Faucet package that would have hot and cold water running through it is good to have. Some tubs have a provision for a faucet attachment. Of course, you will need a Dog Shampoo to complete the bath. That’s for bathing equipment.

When dogs are kept indoors or there is no place where they could dry off, you must have a Hair Dryer or Blower. Moisture left on the coat of the dog could have some unwanted odor or smell if it takes longer to dry. There is also a tendency for the dog to lick the moisture from his body. That would leave a smell of the dog’s saliva or mouth on his hair.

Another dog grooming equipment will be a Grooming Table. The table should be able to hold the size and weight of your dog. There are tables adjustable in height for more comfortable access to the dog while brushing or trimming. Talking about trimming, a Pet Clipper kit makes that job a lot easier. It will be good to have the DuraEdge Traditional Blade because it stays sharp longer. Dogs hate the feeling of their hair being pulled. The Slicker Brush helps in combing away the dogs coat while trimming. You would not want to be sweeping away the dog’s cut fur when he shakes them off him. With these equipments, handling and trimming the dog should now be very convenient.

For dogs mostly kept indoors, you should have a Nail Trimmer as one of your dog grooming equipment. Dogs’ nails grow excessively long and curve too much at the tips. In trimming the nails, the length remaining should be long enough to allow the dog to have a good ‘grip’ on the ground. A dog’s nails do not really grow long because it should scrape on some rough surface in the natural environment. Floors inside a house are too smooth to ‘file off’ the dog’s nails.

Another suggestion of grooming equipment that is a great idea to have in your arsenal is a good dog grooming book. this will give you a reference to have on hand while you are getting busy with your dog washing activities. We have downloaded almost every grooming book out there in an effort to see which ones make the cut and which ones are not worth your time, money and effort. There are three dog grooming books that really stand out and would be a huge help for you.

When you observe dogs on a free range, you’ll notice that they do not really smell. If there are ponds, lakes or rivers around, they don’t even dive in them. In natural surroundings, dogs have a way of keeping themselves clean. Free ranged dogs don’t want to be restrained, confined, handled, much more put on a leash. It’s more likely that they have not experienced dog bathing. For house dogs, they need to be bathed because they stay in a confined space and don’t have access to nature to stay clean. It is absolutely essential that you take note of the following if you do not want a dog that is dirty and smelly.

Before bathing a dog, prepare all the things that are needed – a good supply of water, an elevated tub, dog shampoo, dog comb or brush, towel and a blower for drying off. You should also be prepared to get wet in the process of bathing them. If it is the dog’s first time, it could be quite a struggle for you to keep him under control. It would be good to put the dog on a leash even if he is inside a bathroom tub. Adult dogs will be afraid because they don’t know what’s going to be done to them. First time for pups is a lot easier.

What happens if it’s an adult dog’s first time? The dog will surely be scared and shivering. Don’t put him in a tub filled with water because he’ll jump out for sure. Leave the tub empty. Use a handheld spray with really low pressure, not a strong spray coming out. Start at the back while gently stroking it. The gentle strokes mask the slight pressure of water. Make sure the water is lukewarm, very slightly on the colder side. Progress the spray towards the rear then move slowly under the front of the hind legs. That will be near the stomach. Dogs love being massaged or rubbed near those areas. By now, the dog feels comfortable and safe though still shivering. Apply the shampoo in the same way as if you are petting him. Be most gentle with the head. Some avoid the head for first time dogs. They’ll get used to it on the next dog bathing.

Drying off the first time dog is sometimes difficult. When you drape the dog with a towel, it will get scared because of the feeling of being trapped. The dog will be better off shaking all the water away. Let him do it for himself after the first dog bathing. Or, if the dog is confined in a kennel or cage, a blower should be used. After you think he’s done, take a small towel or a face towel to rub on him. The dog will feel good while being rubbed.

Putting the grooming of your dog in the hands of professional pet salons is quite expensive. One way to save some top dollar is to groom your dogs on your own. Home dog grooming may take a little of your time each day but the bond that is built between you and your pet is priceless. It may not be easy to train your dog to stay put during the session but as time goes on, your dog will manage to keep still while doing their daily grooming routine. You must instill in him that grooming is different from playing. Be patient and consistent enough in instilling discipline.

Buying home dog grooming supplies will prove to be more cost-saving than paying a groomer regularly. All you need are materials to arm yourself in making sure your dog looks its best everyday. To maintain the glossy look of your dog’s hair, you must have a comb especially designed for a dog’s type of hair. The ones that are made up of stainless steel are the best choice since it does not rust and will last longer. Depending on your dog’s hair length, you can buy it through online pet shops which have them in different sizes. Combs with wood handles will be even better since they are designed to increase hand grip. Brushing your dog’s hair regularly each day will bring out the natural oil that is vital in maintaining the glossy-look of your dog’s hair.

If you want to style your dog’s hair differently, don’t forget to have some doggie clippers handy. This usually comes in a set of 12 or 18 and is built to have some extra clutch to secure it from getting loose easily. Who needs the services of professional groomer if you can change the hairstyle of your dog everyday? As long as you have your home dog grooming supplies with you, the love and affection you have for your pet will bring out your artistic talent to make them look even better.

Bath your dog each day with a non- shedding shampoo and conditioner and not with ordinary dog shampoos that results in hair fall. Grooming sprays will make your dog smell fresh all day; it usually comes in different scents so you better choose the one that suits you and your dog’s sense of smell. To keep everything tidy, put your entire home dog grooming supplies in a covered case like the ones being sold at Amazon.

****We are VERY big fans of the Dog Grooming Secrets grooming book. It only costs $19.97 which is actually less than one trip to the groomers. Even if this book can teach you how to skip every other trip to the groomer it will have paid for itself after the first time. They have a free course too!

When you smell something stinky in the air right before your good dog comes to you, it just means that he needs to get cleaned up really soon. Dogs need bathing, too. Because they play around and roll over everywhere, they pick up amounts of dirt that make them stink. You know you don’t want your dog to be sleeping beside you while you cannot stand the way he smells. When this situation arises, you know that dog washing is needed to end this problem.

You have the option of taking your dog to a grooming shop or doing the cleaning all by yourself. It would really be great if all you have to do is take your pet to a groomer, get him cleaned up and walk away. However, this scenario is impossible; you have to pay a fair price to avail the service. And if your dog belongs to a breed that requires frequent dog washing, you are certainly going to fall short of budget.

Why would you take your animal friend to a grooming shop if the task can be done in your own home? The thought can be quite frightening especially when you hear people say that dog washing can be a really dirty deed. Nevertheless, if you do what you are supposed to, you would encounter the slightest problem with your dog. It may really be helpful to get all the necessary dog grooming supplies along with a dog grooming book to learn the skill very well. A great place to get these things is Amazon. You know that this website is a portal of many different products; all you have to do is purchase online and wait for the supplies to be delivered to your doorstep. This process is going to save you time and the effort of going to a pet store.

Your dog grooming book shall help you learn the basics of dog washing. It will also provide guidelines on how to properly care for your pet. To give you an idea what the basics of dog washing are, here is a list of what you must remember when cleaning up your pet:

Always brush your pet before you bathe him. You will have to straighten the tangles and get rid of small mats so that they do not crop up when you pour water onto the dog.

Use a dog shampoo when bathing your dog; humans have a different pH level from dogs so human shampoo is not good for the animal.

A sprayer and a bath tub are always helpful in making the task simpler. A water hose can also speed up the process of washing.

Not every dog is enthused by the thought of bathing; using treats to entice your pet to bathe is a really good idea.

You may need to prepare a lot of old towels to dry your dog after bathing him up. Note that a bigger and hairier dog needs more towels than a small and short-haired one.

You love it when your dog comes to you and licks your face just to tell you that he missed you during the day. However, there are times when you cannot help being disgusted by your dog’s showing of affection. These times are the times that your dog already smells awful. Yes, without a doubt, dogs get smelly too and just like human beings, they need a bath to get cleaned.

When you imagine yourself giving your dog a bath, two possible scenarios occur: a fun and entertaining dog washing occasion or a sloppy and disastrous dog washing event. You bet you want the former more than the latter, but how can you assure that this is what will actually happen when the big day comes?

Before you do the dog washing session, you have to note how many baths he needs in a week. Dogs have different bathing needs and these depend on the dog’s breed. Water dogs like retrievers need to get bathed more often because they have more oily coats that easily pick up dirt. If your dog has a short hair and frequently stays inside the house, he needs a bath just once in a week. Long-haired dogs that stay outside and roll around dirt have to be cleaned more often than short-haired breeds. In the end, your nose is going to help you decide whether your pet already needs bathing.

It is fairly important to brush your pet before dog washing. This is to make sure that no hair is tangled and small mats are removed. If you do not brush your dog before you wet him, the tangles and mats will get bigger and this will give you a hard time cleaning up your pet. After brushing your dog, prepare all of the bathing materials that you need. If it is going to be his first bath, you may not have all the necessary supplies. You can look into Amazon to see and buy dog-grooming supplies that is perfect for your dog’s breed. This site is one of the perfect places to get help from. You may also want to purchase a dog grooming book that will serve as guide in bathing your good stinky friend.

The most important supply in dog washing is the dog shampoo. Remember that your skin’s pH level is different from your dog’s pH, so you must not use human shampoo on him. Another material you need is a bunch of old towels. If your dog is big and hairy, you need more towels for him. Remember that in washing your dog, it is ideal to have a sprayer and a tub that can accommodate your pet. These two are important in assuring that your dog does not run away when you begin to wet him.

Keep in mind that not every dog will want to be in water. Giving your pet treats during bath time can help alleviate the trouble. When you do this, your dog can eventually associate bathing to getting treats from you. Gradually, your dog will love bathing and get excited when he knows he is going to get treats from his master.
